Overview
Over the past 5 or so years, the terms Agile and Extreme have proliferated much of the thinking behind how we best build software products. This has been driven from the Agile Methodology community and its techniques and methods have certainly been gaining momentum.

This workshop is intended to provide a crisp overview of the core methods and to explain the implications across your teams – from Customer to Developer to Tester to Project Manager to Leader. I assert that there is tremendous value and promise in the methods that deserve your attention, understanding, and possible application to increase your team effectiveness and project results. The workshop will help remove the uncertainty and doubt surrounding Agility and open the possibilities of changing your methods and approaches.

You will be exposed to:
  • A review of the Agile Manifesto and the original goals of Agility
  • A survey of key Agile Methodologies, including Extreme Programming, Scrum, and Crystal
  • Examine the core “themes” within the agile methods
  • Discuss fundamental implications to various functions within your organization
  • Explore implementation strategies for bringing Agility to your teams

Facilitator Biography
Bob Galen is a software engineer by trade and a technical leader by experience. He is a principal in RGalen Consulting Group, www.rgalen.com based in Cary, NC. For the past 15 years, he has held significant leadership roles at Bell & Howell, ChannelAdvisor, EMC, Lucent, Thomson/Dialog, and Unisys.

Currently his focus is Agile Methods Coaching, Training, Evangelism & Speaking. He has a track record of effectiveness in leading diverse technical teams towards project success in an energized and humane fashion utilizing Agile & Traditional methods. If there is a key to Bob’s style its Balance and Effectiveness. He is a member of the Agile Alliance, a Certified Scrum Master & Scrum Product Owner, and an experienced XP Coach.
