 “The fact is that I got involved with MATRIX very late in my job search. I had spent several months working with headhunters. They basically strung me along, telling me that my skills were excellent and that any number of employers would fight over me. Yet I never got a single interview from any of them. Furthermore, they would call me every few weeks to tell me that they had seen my résumé on a career site and ask me if I would consider becoming a client of theirs. In other words, they didn’t even know that I was already a client.
I’m telling you all of this to show you that I was quite jaded by the time your recruiter contacted me. I didn’t even bother to visit your website or take advantage of any of your resources. I semi-reluctantly agreed to come in to your office to meet with him, figuring it would be more of the same. It turned out to be the best meeting I had during my entire job search. He was candid with me. He told me what I had suspected all along, that my job skills were lacking in certain key areas. He gave me some extremely useful advice on how to improve my résumé and, most importantly, he advised me to set my sights a little lower. Specifically, although I indicated that I was looking for a software development job, he advised me to consider taking an application support position would allow me to handle the code of existing products.
 His reasoning was that it would allow me to get a foot in the door with an employer and then get back into development sooner or later. It was brilliant advice because I took it and ran with it and found a job on my own very quickly as a Customer Support Specialist. The job is officially a training position that will lead to a development position using C# and Java. This is the sort of job that, had I not spoken with him, I would have never considered in the past. Since I landed it so quickly I never really had a chance to use MATRIX. However, contrary to the experiences I had with your competitors, I came away with an extremely positive feeling towards MATRIX and in particular for your recruiter. I feel like he went out of his way to help me and I especially appreciate his honesty. Had I not had that discussion with him I would probably be unemployed to this day.
