Question:

I keep reading about the pending labor shortage. How will VMS and Managed Services help my company find talent when candidate supply is so limited and the demand is so strong?

- PK

Answer:

Thanks for asking.

In 1999 the early adopters of VMS were certain that their VMS decision enhanced their ability to recruit Information Technology talent during the peak of the dot-com boom. As the market changed these early adopters took advantage of the robust reporting in VMS, and their analysis allowed these companies to strategically adjust their use of temporary workers to fit the changing labor market conditions.

Today, many companies have capitalized on the current slowdown in hiring to implement VMS and Managed Services programs, thereby gaining a more streamlined process with a reduced number of temporary workers on staff, and fewer hiring managers using temporary workers.

As the pendulum of the labor market swings back to a low supply, high demand condition the use of a VMS and Managed Services program will allow hiring companies to distribute job requisitions to a larger number of staffing partners in a more efficient and timely manner.

For example, the current shortage of nurses and other medical specialists is a significant concern for many hospital and medical organizations. Hospitals that use VMS have been able to gain a competitive advantage in their ability to engage a large number of staffing firms, track the specialty or niche of various staffing firms, have a central repository for license and certificate information, and use VMS to efficiently report on competitive rate information and other metrics surrounding their use of temporary workers.
